I was despondent this day because a wildfire in the neighboring National Forrest caused smoke to fill Glacier National Park. The result was poor visibility, and dull photography. Then I came to this overlook. Here the smoke reduced the detail just enough to give the scene a watercolor feeling. Instead of concentrating on specific parts of the composition, the symmetry of the mountains and their reflection provides a dynamic pattern of subtle shading.
